I just found Chris on YouTube and his style and energy are inspiring. I have been mostly Nutritarian for 5 years and I feel just amazing. My motivation was to fix my hormone issues and they are literally gone now, and I am almost the only woman I know who doesn't have those types of issues at my age (46), so I keep going. Thanks for the interesting article!
Chris MacAskill runs an amazing channel based on pure science. I can't love it enough!! In a world of fake news and youtubers who can just say things that come from thin air and get zillions of likes its a breath of fresh air to hear reality from peoeple like Chris. Thanks for highlighting him!
My husband and I went Whole Food Plant Based with our diet 3 years ago and our health has bevefitted in every single way. The results continue to show up even 3 years later as if our bodies are slowly repairing decades of weaknesses brought on by a traditional Western diet. We thought we ate pretty healthy diet, this only made it sooo much better!
Thanks for this information Chris' life and background.
You’re welcome, Jon! Congrats on losing 85 lbs.! That’s an awesome achievement! I’m glad you enjoyed the piece on Chris MacAskill. He’s inspiring and brilliant. Good luck with your WFPB diet. I’d like to write more about that in the future and how folks might use it in their weight-loss efforts.
I love the Plant Chompers channel. Over the span of four-plus years I have now dropped 85 pounds. I eat a WFPB-style diet and find Chris' videos to be very informative and inspiring. Thank you for this insight to Mr. MacAskill's life.
Throughout the 1970’s my girlfriend and I did every diet marketed— Prolinn and Atkins the longest. Oy, were we crazy! At the end of the 70’s, through infomercials, I finally discovered juicing. But not being able to afford the Juiceman’s machine, made do with canned tomato and carrot juices. Again, crazy—while it took weight off, it surely wasn’t sustainable. And going right back to the typical American diet afterwards, any weight lost came right back. In 1980 I became an ethical vegan, but still managed to overeat enough processed vegan foods that I could never lose weight.
It wasn’t until “Fat, Sick And Nearly Dead” that juicing hit my radar again in 2015, and I dropped 130 lbs. But with the help of vegan meat and cheese substitutes, I managed to gain 50% of the weight back. During Covid, I started juicing again. THIS time, I was nearly 70, and not only still vegan, but 100% plant-based, which makes all the difference in the world. It only took a lifetime, but I finally achieved success.
This is great, Ruth! Ive been an on/off vegan for years but always a full vegetarian (no meat, no fish). This has motivated me to put my very much carnivore hubby on this track. Wish me luck! Maybe we can start with this dahl recipe. We love Indian food. My favourite ever Indian meal was at a restaurant in Mountain View come to think of it!
