Thanks so much, Jolene! I've been having fun rediscovering what I can do with mine--mostly soups and stews. I'm actually going to try using the Instant Pot slow-cooking function just to see how it compares, but I still like the simplicity of the crock-pot.
I hate to admit that I'm on my second one; the first one just seemed to run too hot, even on a low setting. I used to use it to make chicken stock but I now do that in the Instant Pot since it's faster and doesn't smell up the kitchen as much. I still use the crock pot for beef stew (Ina Garten's version), chicken with salsa, Mongolian beef and a few other standbys.
Ruth, I'm going to make this stew, with your improvements, of course. The weather is perfect for it, and I have a long-neglected slow cooker. Thanks for the inspiration.
Bought one 20 years ago along with cookbooks and everything I tried to make in it, came out looking grey and unappealing. So I gave up on it and gave it away.
That’s it….I’m getting a crock pot 😂
Temperatures should be dropping fast and I want to make stew. Thanks, Ruth! Great read and recipes as always ❤️

I’m going to try those recipes for sure, Ellen! And I’m not giving up on the Instant Pot either. Thanks for the ideas!

Thanks, Beth! Sounds like you're in the camp with most folks. But I'm still not quite ready to give up on mine.
I’m a little embarrassed to say I only use my crockpot to make dog food once a month for my happy, healthy senior pooch.
Hmmmm… Never heard that one before, Jean! But I know how much you love that pooch, so I’m sure it’s probably good enough for human consumption!☺️
Yes, all good ingredients. 🌸
Waiting for the meatless one. I know it'll be good.
Thanks, Judy! I've found a few recipes. I'll let you know when I make it.
