Thanks so much, Hoang! I hope you get a chance to try this cake sometime. I actually think most of the cakes at that bakery would be pretty satisfying--they certainly look mouthwatering!
We thought so--but the experience of eating it in that crazy hotel might have affected our tastebuds just a little, not to mention those pink curls of chocolate! I might have to go back and try another slice just to test out the theory!😘
Ruth! - I love this so much!! And thank you so much for the shout-out! This was so much fun to read and those pictures are gorgeous! Going to go to Jeff’s page today. Beautiful piece, Ruth, and so much fun. Think pink! 💕
Thanks, Jolene! I'm so glad--and you so deserve a shout-out too! I really want to try to make the champagne cake you wrote about, but I need to lose a few lbs first! Pink may be my new favorite color!💝🎂😉
Ruth, thank you for the shout-out to Non-Boring History, and I'm thrilled you stopped in at the Madonna Inn for that fabulous cake! I am hoping to attempt a reasonable imitation of it one of these days... But that's not going to be as good!
You're so welcome, Annette! You deserve more attention. I really want to try making a champagne cake myself, but it will of course be a pale imitation of the Madonna Inn's and probably of the one Jolene guest-posted about on Anne Byrne's site. I'm better at muffins and quick breads than layer cakes! Happy travels!
Wonderful read Ruth. I enjoyed this so much!
Thanks, Marg!
This looks fantastic and another tantalizing stop to add to my growing list of CA goodies.
You gotta go, Jean! I think you'd enjoy it--maybe before or after a concert in nearby SLO.😊
Oh absolutey! (After! I have strict rules for pre-show nutrition, but after the gig, let me at it!) 🥰
PS I love how the pink chocolate curls on the cake echo the restaurant booth shape. 💓
I think that calls for one of your drawings, Jean!☺️
The cake quite possibly!
Yes!!! Maybe you, the cake and your little pup with a pink ribbon round his neck!
Your pictures look amazing!! I love anything and everything related to cake so thanks for sharing!

Have been there several times, but didn’t have the cake ( too caloric I guess). What a miss - your description and pictures are awesome!
Thanks so much, Donna! We loved every last calorie--not even that sweet!
How wonderful that the owners are the same. Great photo of the dining room!
Thanks for reading, Vicki!
It was THAT good?

It sounds decadent and delicious.
It was!

Thanks so much, Ruth! I plan to use Anne Byrn's recipe plus Bavarian cream, white chocolate, and a decorating video from YouTube. 😂
