I agree! We love the state too, and Taos holds a special place in our hearts because it's where we went on our very first road trip 40-plus years ago (yikes!). I enjoyed your piece a lot and left a comment. I forgot to say that the recipe for buffalo burgers and fry bread sounds delicious!
My mouth waters at all things NM cuisine! Thank you for this armchair visit!
If I remember correctly, the multiple ristras that hang drying outside homes, are typically the length (height) of each family member. That is the amount needed for cooking for the year!
We miss NM almost as much as we do LA. Lost our hearts to Taos, especially Ruth.

My mouth was watering, even at 1030 at night! Can't wait to try your recipes.
Thanks, L S. I’ll be posting some recipes from here very soon, so stay tuned!
Thank you for taking us along on this wonderful trip, Ruth! And the pictures are stunning!
Thanks so much, Jolene! So glad to have you along. It's a great place to visit if you haven't been--or to re-visit if you have!
What a fun read. I want the flan.
It was pretty great! Will have to come up with a recipe soon!
New Mexico is the greatest!!
Yum. Makes me want to to back to Taos. Haven’t been there in over 20 years! Say, hope there’s something we Can do
For Chanukah outdoors this year. Maybe a lunchtime picnic or a place with heat lamps.
It’s a glorious place in so many ways. Worth returning to again and again. We’ll figure the holidays out soon!

Thanks, Jean! What an interesting tidbit of information about the ristras! There’s so much to learn about the food, the people, etc.
