I do love pumpkin just not in sweet preparations 𤫠to me it's a savory affair, risottos, pies, soups... but I wouldn't mind trying those cookies! For me, with the zest please š
It's fun but also laborious, weekend project kind of cooking. I don't make mine, there are so many good ones that I can buy at the deli or supermarket! When you come to Italy you could book a pasta making class :) especially if you're in Emilia Romagna region, they're the best pasta makers š
The pictures of the carved turnips are amazing. Thanks for sharing all this wonderful info. I have yet to try the challah recipe from your last edition, but the pumpkin version looks delicious as well.
Love the picture of you, Jeff and Sam! Iāve never been a big fan of pumpkin pie, but I love pumpkin bread, cake and muffins, especially Sarabethās. And adding chocolate to pumpkin anything is always terrific! Thanks for the history, Ruth! š
Adding chocolate chips transforms pumpkin bread from meh to wow! Btw, Scots need equal billing with the Irish for bringing turnip lanterns and Halloween in general to the US. In England, Halloween was long overshadowed by Guy Fawkes Day, five days later, until TV depictions of trick or treat in the US made Halloween hip in the UK.š All that said... I'm with you in pumpkin spice overload. What's that about???
I stand corrected--and you would know, Annette! I'm not quite sure about the pumpkin spice overload--except undoubtedly it's a marketing thing. It certainly wasn't that much of a thing when I was a kid, though Halloween definitely was. Like every other holiday, it just seems to grow each year.
Interesting history of the jack o' lantern and delicious looking challah French toast. I agree that Halloween is not the same without a child in the house. We made pumpkin pancakes last weekend that were quite good, and I do enjoy pumpkin bread with raisins.
Yum! Definitely want something pumpkin ish now!! I think you should market your challah bread for TJās to sell! It sounds delicious!
Iām Going to make a pumpkin spice cake today for a dinner party tomorrow ! Goes good with Chicken and dumplings right?
Thanks for the inspiration! ā¤ļø
Oh, Mindy, that sounds like a terrific combo! Want that chicken and dumplings recipeāand the spice cake too!š¤

Oh that sounds amazing! I see I will have to attempt pumpkin ravioli one day soon!
Oh, yummy! Do you make your own ravioli, Sinù? I have never done it but would love to try.š¤

Will do!
Just ate one of your cookies. Definitely a winner. Keep writing and baking please.

chocolate + pumpkin = perfect fall dessert.
I agree, Julia!

Ruth, I'm starting to worry that Pumpkin Spice is an identity cult. š And yes, definitely new....
